The Judicial Service Commission has nominated Justice William Ouko for appointment as Judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya.
This follows three days of public interviews of the 7 candidates who had applied for the vacancy.
Ouko, who currently serves as the President Court of Appeal, trounced six other candidates who were interviewed for the position, and will now sit in the country’s highest court in the land.
Those who had been shortlisted for the position include Dr. Nyaberi Justry Patrick Lumumba, Hon. Mr. Justice Nduma Mathews Nderi, Hon. Mr. Justice Marete D. K. Njagi, Hon. Justice Chitembwe Said Juma, Hon. Mr. Justice Sergon Joseph Kiplagat and Ms. Yano Alice Jepkoech.
Even though Ouko missed out on the position of the Chief Justice to Lady Justice Martha Koome, the Court of Appeal Judge has risen to the highest post in the judiciary having entered at the lowest level as District Magistrate.
