Kenyan businesses are now tallying the financial repercussions of recent protests, estimated to be worth billions of shillings, following opposition-led demonstrations against State tax measures.

Additionally, manufacturers have issued a grave warning regarding the consequences of job and economic disruptions.

They cautioned that if the protests continue for an extended period, it will negatively impact business confidence and increase the risk of job cuts.

Rajan Shah, Chairman of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), expressed concerns about the adverse effects on manufacturers, including reduced sales, disrupted travel and logistics, hindering employees’ access to workplaces, and disruptions in the supply chain.

Furthermore, damages and losses to properties such as vehicles, offices, shops, infrastructure, and outlets have been reported.
