
Davis Chirchir, the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum, has officially appointed Justus Wabuyabo as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA). Wabuyabo had been serving as the acting CEO for the past six months prior to his confirmation. In a statement, Chirchir announced the confirmation and highlighted Wabuyabo’s background, noting that he had been with NuPEA since 2019, initially as the Director of Legal and Regulatory Services and Corporation Secretary.
Before joining NuPEA, Wabuyabo held the position of General Manager of Legal and Corporate Services at the National Water and Harvesting Authority. He brings extensive legal experience, having taught law at the Kenya School of Law and the Mount Kenya University. Wabuyabo earned his Bachelor of Law degree from Moi University and holds a Master of International Law from the University of Nairobi. With over 22 years of experience, he is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Additionally, Wabuyabo holds various certifications, including being a Certified Public Secretary, Commissioner of Oaths, Notary Public, and Accredited Governance Auditor. He is a member of professional organizations such as the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), East African Law Society (EALS), Commonwealth Lawyers’ Association (CLA), and the Institute of Certified Secretaries.
